The Gray Catbird is a slate-gray color with a black cap. The chestnut undertail coverts are frequently not noticeable. It can be found from the mid-west and the eastern half of the U.S. and from Canada to the Gulf coast. The tail flips jauntily. The voice is a catlike mewing. Also a tcheck-tcheck sound. The habitat is undergrowth, brush, thorn scrub, and gardens. It has a diet of insects and berries.

I usually see the Gray Catbird as it passes through my area in the Springtime. It is fairly easy to identify by the voice, size, and color.
