Minnesota State Fair 2018 – Rapture Presentation

The Crested Caracara was most impressive of the rapture presentation, being beautiful, agile, fast, and powerful.

Northern Crested CaraCara

Bald Eagle

 

Falconer and veterinary technician John Karger, and founder of “Last Chance Forever” The Bird of Prey Conservancy headed the rapture presentation. All birds of prey were from the conservancy and were rehabilitated and were at one time sick, injured or orphaned birds of prey.

The Bald Eagle is the National Bird of the U.S. A dark body with a white head and tail, and a massive yellow bill can identify it. The diet is mostly fish, but also eats other birds and mammals. Does most of it’s hunting from a high perch or cruising low over water or land. The habitat is coasts, rivers, large lakes and also mountains. Its range is Alaska and Canada to the SE U.S. coasts.

I have seen about 3 Bald Eagles in the natural environment, but have never been able to photograph one. My chances are slim. The Bald Eagle habitats around coasts, rivers, and lakes. I have seen them in trees near lakes while driving.
